When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Who we share your data with

If you sign-up to receive email notifications or Newsletters or other content, your email address, first name and last name will be shared with the mailing service we use.  Currently, that emailing service is MailPoet, and they have a separate privacy policy.  We do not share your data with third-parties and we do not sell your data.  If we are compelled by a court of law to disclose the data we hold, we comply with the relevant orders.

 

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.  For users that register on our website (where we offer this option), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.  A Registered User is a person who has registered a username and password and completed a user profile.  All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.  Visitors who sign-up to a mailing list but are not logged-in to the site or do not have a user profile, username and password, are not registered users.  Visitors who leave a comment and any personal details in reply to a Post but are not logged-in to the site or do not have a user profile, username and password, are not registered users.  If you sign-up to a mailing list, we retain your data until such time as you unsubscribe or you ask us to remove it.  If you have difficulty unsubscribing, you should contact the Webmaster at:  [email protected]

 

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. Where we send your data

This website uses an external mailing services provider.  The provider is currently MailPoet.  Your email address, first name and last name are sent to MailPoet when you sign-up to receive email notifications or Newsletters.  MailPoet have a separate Privacy Policy.  MailPoet are GDPR compliant and have a Data Processing Agreement. If you need a signed DPA, just contact MailPoet to request it.
